Waves

“Waves”-CJ

If the dark sun
In the way of light
There are
Finite ways
To shatter light
And then
Make it whole again
If I took a shot
Of sunshine
It would
Be deadlier
Than moonshine
And would
Corrode
My innards
Like a good whisky
The blackest
Criminal
The sagest
Of saints
All belong
To sunlight
Like sunlight belongs
To all creation
That shine
That you pull
From when you create
Makes
Saints
And devils
And angels
Out of mere
Human beings
And lovers
Of fire
Stand by the shore
Watching the
Waves.

I thought long and hard
About writing you
And then wondered
“what good would that do?”
You sitting in your
Rocking chair
Fire blazing in your soul
If you said anything
Into my mind that
I could believe
It was the words
“I love you”
Over and over
While fire
Leapt from your soul to
Mine
In the darkest hour
I leapt from your
Soul to mine
And my cat
I had to put him to sleep
You will never meet Mr. Toby
His fire was extinguished
But it still burns in my soul
Every being we love
Is a piece of our insides
And passion is just a word
And bodies are finite
My love for you is not
The word love
It is a wave
That transcends
All thinking knowing and being
It is a moment
When you slip in and out
Of being
Like a being in a Surrealist
Painting
Somehow shimmering
On a plain of being
As eternal
and perfect as this one
small episode…

Richmond part 1

Richmond part 1

Some hum drum
Sound snap
The sound of a
Mosquito buzzing by my ear
The sound of a wind-shield
Breaking
Jackhammers
Men shoveling dirt
Cars whiz by
Birds sing the eternal song
Trees rustle
Nudes fall from the trees
While singers
Mimic the birds
I am lost in this landscape
Dogs bark
Cats mating wail
Men pass by in black
Minivans
Blasting ghetto rap
The dogs wear chain link
Fences around their necks
Men suspended
In their suspenders
And their black
Stocking caps
Car alarms sing out to the world
Cops
Blaze by
In their black and whites
Sirens screaming
From the rocks below
Gunfire rattles
Like bottle rockets on fourth of July
Mexican Markets straddle the streets
And Asian restaurants
Dot the world proclaiming
“No msg”
Music from block to block changes
So do cars and lawns
Some people love cactus
Nudes fall from the cactus
The cacti are nude
Naked birds
And naked cats
And naked sky
Clothed men on bikes
Pass by ….

LSG Thursday April 12
Outside it is pouring rain
In here red crosses and
mounds of dirt, televisions
and bear caves.
I love this art exhibit
the music  is ghostly
flickering on and off
like a broken radio
some drones
fill my heart with fear
others with joy
the rain  comes down
outside in sheets
and the thunder gods
are showing spears at us
in here
you can't hear them
the sound is so loud
the guitar and violin
the noise haunting
ethereal and crackling
The street outside is lit
with the catholic lights
the streaming screaming
goddess starlight neon
Catholic lights
yet the music is beyond
faith or God or dancing,,
the gutter runs with water
my blood runs round the city
love is a droplet
that quivers from
waves of sound
inside my body
all I do is vibrate
from day to day
and the sound
is so loud I should
put in earplugs
I love the rainy
San Francisco
sound scape
almost as
much as I love
the quiet

 The Hangman's Hands

In the big world
the big words
sometimes
come useless
like many crafts
many times
the people speak
in small
utterances
while the
monsters
speak volumes
of OIL
and Lust for power
I love flowers
and writing
wonder if people
can still speak
the language of love
most times
I feel despair
at the
burned out way
you talk about humanity
Like it's all over ...
the place...
But tomorrow
the empty nest
will have flown
and humankindness
will have gone
the way of flowers
some kind of
history lesson
in  beauty
if we don't speak
up now.
Our voices
mingle with
the last of the roses,
they are climbing vines
that crawl over the hands
of the hangman.

Tree of life

Flower

Red and blue

Drink

The cup

Rose petals

Love,

An abstraction

I feel close

To the ground

Feed

Me water and air

And fire

And I stretch out here

In my disguise

Peering out masklike

Connecting to every thread

Making the flame my conscious

Body

I am a orange fruit giving tree

And I lust after the ocean

My branches sweep

From shore to shore

And my love is

Just a tiny little

Budding

Flame

On the end of a white candle

Love (for 3 women)

1.My love for you is like

The strangeness of the ocean

When the ocean is

Green

You know like that jade green

Color that is so very very beautiful

My love for you is like an owl

On a postcard with a Jackson Pollack stamp

And random chicken scratchings on it

My love for you is like some kind of a mystery

My love for you is un-seeable, unknowable,

Sometimes unbearable.

My love for you goes in into perpetuity

Like love sometimes does….

2.My love for you is a thought in my mind\

And a warmth in my soul, and a certain amount of

No small amount of trepidation, my love for you

Thinks its clever but it probably isn’t

My love for you is a strange song.

3. My love for you remembers you

When I was small

You were a head of silver hair

And a lot of tears...

But I remember red rose tea

And chicken soup when I was sick

My love for you is a puzzled cat

4.My love is like a red red

Bird

A flock of them

Would really be something

Like wrapping paper
unfurling,
Crimson all through the sky

Sex or salvation

Even this world

Not another

Even this face

Of a revered

Icon

In the body

Christ in the body

Of a withering

Man

Hands search for pennies

And frail arms bend

Haunting narrow

Cheeks

And hallowed eyes

He sags

And lies in the street

Covered in a blanket

A man with

An angelic soul

And no money

This crippled man

Squirms

And searches the trash

Looking for money

Or food

Looking for sex

Or salvation

Looking for truth

Within denial

His eyes

Have been victorious

Over death

Deep brown

Seen it all

Eyes

Passing

The lust of strangers

And the anger of

The well-to-do

He passes

Christ in another body

From this world

Day in and day out

Mindless

Mental derangement.

Dark endless nights

In homeless shelters

And parks and dirty beds

This man loved by only

The soul of his mother

Loves him still.
