Richmond part 1

Richmond part 1

Some hum drum
Sound snap
The sound of a
Mosquito buzzing by my ear
The sound of a wind-shield
Breaking
Jackhammers
Men shoveling dirt
Cars whiz by
Birds sing the eternal song
Trees rustle
Nudes fall from the trees
While singers
Mimic the birds
I am lost in this landscape
Dogs bark
Cats mating wail
Men pass by in black
Minivans
Blasting ghetto rap
The dogs wear chain link
Fences around their necks
Men suspended
In their suspenders
And their black
Stocking caps
Car alarms sing out to the world
Cops
Blaze by
In their black and whites
Sirens screaming
From the rocks below
Gunfire rattles
Like bottle rockets on fourth of July
Mexican Markets straddle the streets
And Asian restaurants
Dot the world proclaiming
“No msg”
Music from block to block changes
So do cars and lawns
Some people love cactus
Nudes fall from the cactus
The cacti are nude
Naked birds
And naked cats
And naked sky
Clothed men on bikes
Pass by ….
